…for new Social Justive/Activism iniatives at Bryn Mawr, for Bryn Mawr - BY Bryn Mawr!

In case you didn’t know, Gender Sexuality Awareness and Dialogue (fondly shortened to GSAAD - cause who doesn’t love Acronyms?), a new initiative from the Community Diversity Assistants and Office of Intercultural Affairs (OIA).

GSAD is a developing collective of students (and allied faculty, staff, and administration) aimed at addressing and exploring issues of Gender and Sexuality at Bryn Mawr College.

The main purpose of GSAAD is to develop and facilitate educational workshops, plan and lead discussions, and provide resources to the Campus Community with regards to these issues.

GSAAD will work with Translate on Tuesday, April 7th and Wednesday, April 8th, to develop workshops and other resources for Bryn Mawr. Translate is a collective-based consensus-run nonprofit organization that works to generate community accountability for individuals to self-determine their own genders and gender expressions.

GSAAD is open to all students regardless of their previous experience with gender and sexuality issues or/facilitation. We only ask that you bring an open mind, willingness to learn and grow, and enthusiasm.

If you’d think you’re interested, give the questions below  a thought and get intouch with Paige Walker (vwalker) for more information!

1.    How has your gender and sexuality identity impacted your life?  What does privilege mean to you and how do you see it affect yourself and the campus community?

2.    GSAAD facilitators expected to both lead as individuals, as well as collaborate as members of a team.  Please help us get to know you better in the context of what you are like as an individual, as well as your style in the context of a group setting.

3.    Why do you think its important to talk about Gender and Sexuality at Bryn Mawr? What do you hope to get out of this experience?
